The Hacker
Don’t let the gritty realism and computer jargon fool you: “This is a fictional movie about a person hacking a bank site. Fictional!”

I found the juxtapositon of events leading up to the main character’s learning of his own reality at the final moments of the film quite enlightning. The irony of discovering his fictional “self” in the film and thus declaring “This can’t be true!” was clearly a nod to modernity principles in cinema. I think the message it conveys is unfortunately quite commonly overlooked and underappreciated by today’s filmmakers. Plus, he was probably hacking the CIA, and not a bank.

Did he discover himself? I think someone on the other end busted him and that’s what surprised him. But I think we can both agree that this kid is going places.
